Dominican Preaching through Word and Image
I wanted to find a quote for “Up”, this week’s photo challenge before the week got away, and one came via email from: inward/outward: A Project of the Church of the Savior.
To pray is to take notice of the wonder, to regain a sense of the mystery that animates all beings, the divine margin in all attainments. Prayer is our humble answer to the inconceivable surprise of living. It is all we can offer in return for the mystery by which we live….
Amidst the meditation of mountains, the humility of flowers wiser than all alphabets–clouds that die constantly for the sake of God’s glory–we are hating, hunting, hurting. Suddenly we feel ashamed of our clashes and complaints in the face of the tacit glory in nature.
– Abraham Joshua Heschel, Quest for God
So let us not only look up, but all around us and within.

these are much the same sky that greets me with it’s morning sunrises here at the moment – beautiful sunrise!! It is sunrise right now behind the cloud and drizzle!
Thanks Keith. Whether down under or up over (is there such a place?) or anywhere around the middle, sunrises and sunsets can be breathtaking!
