Christmas Blessings

Let us join our voices with the music of the angels this Christmas!

Happy Easter!

As Psalm 118 tells us today,

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!

Happy Easter!

Seeking Darkness to Scatter Light

Today is Palm Sunday. It is a day when we hear familiar readings about the Passion of Jesus – a story of his last days on earth – the days that led up to his crucifixion.  We understand that Jesus walked willingly into the darkness.

I recently came across a lovely poem by Dan Turner entitled, What Kind of God. The last line of the poem expresses well Christ’s mission.

My God . . . seeking darkness . . . to scatter Light.
                      To scatter Light.

May we remember, when we find ourselves in the midst of darkness, that we, too, are called to scatter Light.

Morning light breaking though to scatter the darkness

We Are Filled with Joy!

Today is the 5th Sunday of Lent. Like last week, our Responsorial Psalm gives us a phrase that we can hold with us throughout the week.

The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.

– from Psalm 126

Nothing can fill my heart with joy like poppies can!!

Nothing can fill my heart with joy like poppies can!!

Taste and See

Today is the 4th Sunday of Lent. What better words can we keep with us this week than those from our Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 34:

Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Spirit is with Us

Today is the Third Sunday of Lent

I love the story of the woman at the well in the Gospel of John – there is so much to reflect on – so many nuggets of wisdom. These words of Jesus offer such promise, “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship God in Spirit and truth; and indeed God seeks people to worship in this way. God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship in Spirit and truth.”

Even during Lent – even in our darker days – the Spirit is with us.

Is the rain coming my way?

Is the rain coming my way?

A Lenten Mantra

Today is the Second Sunday of Lent.

In today’s Psalm, we respond with the words, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” What better words to repeat?! What better mantra can we find than to remind ourselves of this truth?
