Wednesday of Hope – Cup of Hope

Drinking our cup is not simply adapting ourselves to a bad situation and trying to use it as well as we can. Drinking our cup is a hopeful, courageous, and self-confident way of living. It is standing in the world with head erect, solidly rooted in the knowledge of who we are, facing the reality that surrounds us and responding to it from our hearts.

– Henri Nouwen

True Miracles

The true miracle isn’t walking on water or walking in air. Simply walking on this earth.

Thanking heaven even for our difficulties and misfortunes is the best way to transform them. You will see your difficulties in a different light, as if you had wrapped them in a film of pure gold.

Wednesday’s Child Is Full of . . . Hope

The theme for the month of November (on Sundays) is still Gratitude. But for this particular Wednesday, I’ve decided we need a change in the words of the nursery rhyme. I’m going to squeeze a little hope in alongside gratitude. Don’t you think they’ll do well together???

Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe  hope,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonnie and blithe and good and gay.
