Happy Easter!

As Psalm 118 tells us today,

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Fearing Death

Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived wisely.
– Buddha

Widen Your Consciousness

Widen your consciousness to the dimension of the earth and you will have a place for everything.

– Mira Alfassa

So glad that there is a place for the iris

So glad that there is a place for the iris

Today’s Easter Poem from Education for Justice is by Denise Levertov

So much is in the (poppy) bud!

So much is in the (poppy) bud!

(Dedicated to the memory of Karen
Silkwood and Eliot Gralla)

“From too much love of living,
Hope and desire set free,
Even the weariest river
Winds somewhere to the sea—“

But we have only begun
To love the earth.

We have only begun
To imagine the fullness of life.

How could we tire of hope?
—so much is in bud.

How can desire fail?
—we have only begun

to imagine justice and mercy,
only begun to envision

how it might be
to live as siblings with beast and flower,
not as oppressors.

Surely our river
cannot already be hastening
into the sea of nonbeing?

Surely it cannot
drag, in the silt,
all that is innocent?

Not yet, not yet—
there is too much broken
that must be mended,

too much hurt we have done to each other
that cannot yet be forgiven.

We have only begun to know
the power that is in us if we would join
our solitudes in the communion of struggle.

So much is unfolding that must
complete its gesture,

so much is in bud.

Let Us Handle One Another Delicately

Delicate Iris

The finest qualities of our nature, like the bloom on fruits,
can be preserved only by the most delicate handling.

-Henry David Thoreau

That being said,
we should be delicate with one another.

We Continue to Give Thanks

The Easter Iris gives thanks

From Psalm 118

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,
and he has been my savior.
The joyful shout of victory
in the tents of the just.
